Kjerag, with its heart-stopping views and the legendary Kjeragbolten wedged between two cliffs, is a must-do for any adventurous traveler in Norway. But getting to this natural wonder requires some planning. Here's your guide to navigating the different routes and choosing the one that best suits your needs.

Reaching the Trailhead:

  • By Car: Norway Overlands office in Sirdal is the perfect starting point for every Norwegian overlanding roadtrip. The scenic drive from Sirdal to Lysebotn offers stunning views and epic driving experiences, but be prepared for narrow and winding roads.
  • If coming from Stavanger, you can also take the faster route bypassing the mountains by taking the ferry.

By Ferry: Take the car ferry from Lauvvik, Forsand, or Songesand to Lysebotn. This option adds another layer of adventure to your journey and allows you to experience the beauty of the Lysefjord firsthand.

By Bus: During the summer season, a convenient express bus operates from Stavanger, taking you directly to the Kjerag trailhead at Øygardstøl.

Reaching the Peak:

  • The Hike: Once you arrive at Øygardstøl, prepare for a challenging yet rewarding 6-10 hour hike. The 11-kilometer trail boasts breathtaking scenery, but remember, good physical fitness is crucial for tackling this demanding trek.

Additional Tips:

  • Plan in Advance: Especially during peak season (summer months), book your ferry tickets and accommodation well ahead of time.
  • Check the Weather: Be sure to check the latest weather forecast before embarking on your hike, as Kjerag can experience unpredictable conditions.
  • Pack Accordingly: Wear proper hiking gear, including sturdy shoes, weather-appropriate clothing, and a backpack with essentials like food, water, and a first-aid kit.

Reaching Kjerag might involve some planning and effort, but the reward is truly unforgettable. With its breathtaking landscapes and iconic landmark, this adventure is sure to leave a lasting impression.

Som enkeltpersoner føler vi oss ofte maktesløse i møte med en så enorm utfordring, men sannheten er at vi alle har kraften til å gjøre en forskjell. Ett område hvor vi kan ha stor innvirkning er bobil-industrien.
