It's a pleasure to have you here at the Norway Overland blog. As the proud owner of Norway Overland, I want to share with you some insights into the incredible world of our electric pickup campers and the unique experiences our company offers. We are all about combining the wonders of electric cars with eco-friendly travel and the great outdoors, so let's delve into the exciting world of electric adventure!
Electric Cars and Range Anxiety: Debunked
Are you considering renting an electric vehicle for your next journey in Norway? One of the first things that might cross your mind is range anxiety. It's a common concern, especially if you're new to electric cars. But fear not, we're here to put those worries to rest.
Range is indeed a significant factor to consider when planning your road trip, but with the electric vehicles we offer at Norway Overland, it's an aspect that has been well thought out. The electric cars in our fleet are equipped with the latest technology, and we are excited to tell you that you'll likely experience even better range than you might expect.
WLTP vs. NEDC: A More Realistic Measurement
The key to this increased range confidence is the new WLTP (Worldwide Harmonized Light Vehicles Test Procedure) measurement method. This methodology is a game-changer for electric car users and renters. It provides a more accurate and realistic picture of an electric vehicle's range.
We are confident when we say that Norway Overlands electric pickup campers have a long range capacity (300 to 330 km) well within expectation because they are tested as N1 vans, that means they are tested for real life hard working conditions with 500kg on the truck bed.
In fact, many of our customers have reported achieving better ranges in practice than what the WLTP figures indicate. That's right, with Norway Overland, you're not just renting a vehicle – you're gaining access to an electric adventure that exceeds expectations.
Unique Driving Conditions in Norway
Now, you might be wondering about the unique driving conditions in Norway. As the owner of Norway Overland, I want to assure you that we've taken that into account.
The WLTP cycle, while excellent, isn't tailored to every specific location, and some of the test conditions might not align perfectly with Norwegian roads.
For example, the WLTP Combined cycle includes driving at speeds of up to 130 km/h, which is not only unrealistic for Norwegian roads but also prohibited.
All cars, being combustion engine or electric, have their best operating speed with the lowest amount of energy consumption vs speed, between 60 to 80 km/h. In Norway that speed includes most roads and is perfect for traversing and exploring our beautiful mountain roads and wonderful fjords.
The Norway Overland Advantage
When you rent a vehicle from Norway Overland, you're not just getting an electric car – you're unlocking a world of possibilities. Our campers on pickup beds are designed with the same weight as the car is tested with. This means you can explore Norway's breathtaking landscapes with all the comforts of home, in an eco-friendly and sustainable manner.
Our electric vehicles, equipped with the latest technology and tested under the WLTP methodology, provide you with a range that is both accurate and practical. You'll be pleasantly surprised by how far your electric adventure can take you, all while reducing your carbon footprint.
So, when you choose Norway Overland for your electric adventure, you can trust that you're making a sustainable choice while enjoying the beauty of Norway without the worry of range anxiety.
